Children cannot learn or be happy in a chaotic and disordered environment, or when they are allowed to become bored. Our commitment to learning is why each child's day is carefully planned, and why we use the most up-to-date, expertly designed education curriculum.
Each classroom consists of children in the same age level, and our preschool program is specially designed for each individual age group. Today's children need to be provided with a firm foundation that enables them to develop socially, intellectually, emotionally and physically.
Our childcare program is designed to:
In addition, music, art, dance and drama are part of the learning experience at Discovery World Learning Center!
OUR STAFF OF CHILDCARE PROFESSIONALS:
Each teacher must meet the rigid requirements set by the Texas Department of Human Services and complete at least fifteen hours of child development training each year. Our teachers are trained in C.P.R. and first aid. Each teacher is carefully selected according to his or her love for children, ability to handle a class properly, neatness, past experience and training in the child care profession. Childcare is a very demanding profession and one must love working with children to remain in this field.
All Discovery World Learning Centers provide developmentally appropriate programs with open-ended experiences that allow each child to develop into a creative thinker.
INFANTS
Our infant rooms are warm and homelike to help the children feel comfortable and secure. Caregivers meet infants' needs consistently, promptly and lovingly in response to each child's individual schedule. Caregivers encourage infants to use their senses and their rapidly growing physical and cognitive skills to explore their environment.
Our caregivers make sure parents are informed daily about their child's growth and development. Our infants' needs are monitored constantly, and all feedings, diaper changes and other activities are recorded for the parents' review.
TODDLERS
An appropriate program for toddlers provides a balance between a toddler's conflicting needs for security and for independence. Caregivers respond to toddlers' struggles to become independent by allowing them to make simple choices and to do things for themselves. Treating each child as an individual is critical at this time in their lives, and encouraging independence helps each child start developing his or her full creative potential.
PRESCHOOL
Our preschool program provides many opportunities for children to develop their interests and to learn to work cooperatively with others. At the preschool age, children begin to take initiative, and preschool children benefit the most when they can explore and pursue activities that they select on their own. The teacher's role is to facilitate and guide learning, rather than to provide answers or tell children how they must use the materials.
Activities such as recognizing the alphabet, beginning to read, working with numbers, exploring arts and crafts, refining hand-eye coordination and problem solving skills are introduced at this age level.
